Tarot is a form of divination... it allows us to see into the future. The basics of most Tarot spreads show what path we have taken to get where we are today; The path we walk on today; and what could happen if we continue on the path that we are taking.
KARMA IS NOT FATE!
...and the word "fate" doesn't always apply to the outcome of a reading.

"Fate" or "destiny" denote something that we, as humans, have no control over.
- Fate: The development of events outside a person's control, regarded as determined by a supernatural power.
- Destiny: The events that will necessarily happen to a particular person or thing in the future.
Melissa refers to the "outcome" of a reading, neither as "fate" nor "destiny". We are always in control of our future. The cards that lay out the map of the future depict what will happen if we stay on our current path. However, if we change ourselves in any manner after hearing what the outcome is to be, we can, in fact, change the outcome itself. (This is particularly useful information if we find we don't like the outcome.)
There is another word, which fits the "outcome" of a reading rather well... "wyrd".
"Wyrd" is a word (Anglo-Saxon/Old Norse) meaning "active fate". In other words, it's something that is constantly changing as we are. Our wyrd (pronounced "weird") IS what will happen; it is fate... that flows.
